No Title

Earth Exhibition at Naturalist Gallery

Among hundreds of entries, Ruonan Yan’s work was selected to participate in Decagon’s online exhibition ‘No Title’ with other 44 photographers from across the country.

NO TITLES, an exhibition that embraces the silent power of imagery and the mysteries it can evoke. In this unconventional presentation, we invite you to experience photography unbound by words. Here, each photograph speaks solely through its visual essence, leaving behind the influence of titles, captions, and labels.

No Titles challenges the role of narrative in art, encouraging a pure, intuitive response to each piece. As you journey through this collection, allow your thoughts and emotions to roam freely, meeting each image on its own terms. Each photograph is a story untold, a moment undefined, an invitation to see and feel without preconceived ideas or explanations.

JUROR'S STATEMENT:

"As a juror for No Titles, I had the privilege of reviewing a stunning and diverse collection of images that transcended conventional boundaries. No Titles challenges both artists and viewers to engage with each piece without predefined narratives, creating a space for unfiltered exploration and personal interpretation.

"The photographers embraced the freedom that the absence of titles provides, allowing each image to stand on its own, evoking a range of emotions and associations unique to every viewer. From arresting portraits to expansive landscapes, the works displayed an impressive command of technique and creativity, inviting us to engage deeply with their subtleties. The exhibition serves as a powerful reminder of photography’s ability to speak in a visual language that is at once universal and intimate, capturing moments that resonate in distinct ways with each individual.

"I commend each artist for their courage in presenting untitled work, fostering a space where personal connections and meanings arise organically. It has been an honor to participate in this thoughtful and beautifully curated showcase." -Judy Bennington, Traverse City MI
